2010 Thistle Great Lakes Championship - LaSalle, Michigan
Big victory for Greg Griffin, with crew Jordan Gourash & Ryanne Gallagher!
The 2010 Thistle Great Lakes was billed as the "Pre-Nationals" at North Cape and scheduled a few weeks prior to the big show. Over 60 boats showed for this event, which turned out to be a test of both speed and mental fortitude!
A truly star-studded line up of past champions, Olympic coaches and Americas Cup champions descended on La Salle, Michigan!
Race Chairman George Sipel recruited a great RC staff in Skip McCullough, who hails out of NCYC. His army had fits with the shifting and volatile winds, but managed to get in 3 races.
In the end, Greg Griffin with teammates Jordan Gourash and Ryanne Gallagher took home top honors. Greg busted out his latest Dieball Sailing designs and reported great speed through the tough conditions. Other Dieball Sailing customers finished in the top 10 as well, including Paul Abdullah (6th), Champ Glover (8th) and Craig Koschalk (9th)!
As one of the premier One Design sailmakers, Dieball Sailing was proud to be involved in the Great Lakes as both a sponsor and active volunteers. Everyone from our loft was involved at some point and we enjoyed showing everyone our home port!
