Membrane Mania!
Dieball Sailing has been busy developing Load Path Membrane sails through the winter months!
Technology. It has been one of the facets of the sailmaking business that has only been afforded to those from the enormous lofts. The sailing professionals at Dieball Sailing have seen the evolution of the technology since the early 1990s. Our knowledge and involvement in the development of Load Path sails has given us the ability to seriously comb the market and partner with the right membrane facility.
We have chosen to work with CSF and their MXL line of Load Path sails. Their facility has vast manufacturing capacity, which yields fantastic craftsmanship and realistic lead times. They also have the same design technology that we have adopted in Toledo, SMAR-Azure. The Azure software suite gives us the power to design, analyze and customize sails for our customers.
In December we picked two classes that membrane sails have been discussed and tested, but yet to be offered consistently to the marketplace: Finn & J24. For each of these classes, Rick Rothenbuhler has been involved in design and testing throughout his 20+ years in
sailmaking. This knowledge ensures that our R&D costs are low. He nailed both sails and we now have the platform to further tweak the mylar weigh, yarn content and finishing standards to get you the best sails!
Contact Rick in our design office to learn more about our Membrane & Load Path technology. We are at the forefront of testing the different fibers, taffeta orientation and how it translates into better sails!
Craftsmanship. Quality. Passion
